Thank you... let's save some more cats!
A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to help us rescue senior cat Jackie. Every penny we raise goes directly to help the cats -- it all pays for food, supplies, and vet bills -- and our intake sadly never gets close to matching the sums we pay out. I've extended the ChipIn to ask you to continue to be so generous. We've currently got two cats who need to be spayed, one who needs neutering, at least four who need dentals, one who needs abdominal surgery, etc., etc. Your continued donations help us rescue cats like Jackie and provide a permanent home for 39 others!

Jackie's out of the shelter!
Jackie is now safe! She's out of animal control and enjoying a few days of luxury in a clean and comfortable boarding facility, and she'll be transported to Wee Paws later this week. We were hoping she'd get here Thursday, but there are bad storms forecast so we might need to adjust her travel schedule. Thank you so, so, much to Jackie's special guardian angel, Karen, who picked her up and took her to boarding, and has been so helpful in ensuring Jackie's well-being. Karen says Jackie is friendly and alert and interested in the world around her, so we can't wait to meet her! Here's a photo of Jackie on her way to "The Kennel Club" for a few days of r&r: http://www.weepaws.org/images/Jackie%20in%20the%20car_sm.jpg

Follow Jackie's rescue
Jackie is currently still at the West Los Angeles Animal Care and Control center, and until she's pulled, you can view her record at
http://www.petharbor.com/pet.asp?uaid=LACT2.A1245510 . A friend of Wee Paws is rescuing Jackie from the shelter in a few hours, then transporting her to a nearby boarding facility. If you'd like to follow the progress of her travels, the transporter will be updating our Facebook wall with news and photos. http://www.facebook.com/WeePawsAnimalSanctuary

Saving 15 year old Jackie
Jackie is a beautiful senior calico cat who somehow ended up at a high-kill shelter at the advanced age of 15. Despite some pretty intensive networking, not one individual offered to adopt Jackie, and no rescue group guaranteed her safety. Wee Paws stepped in and agreed to provide Jackie with a loving home for the rest of her life, but we don't have the funds to get her to Nevada!
We need to raise approximately $200 for transportation (gas), $15 per day to pay for boarding (where she'll stay until transport funds are arranged, plus about $200 for a senior wellness exam when she arrives. We find that older cats are often dumped at shelters after diagnosis of a chronic illness like renal disease, so this exam is very important. We don't have these funds hiding in a bank account or rainy day fund: we simply don't have them, period. Your donation towards Jackie's rescue will literally give her a second chance at life.
